An on-going photographic project about individuals for whom reviving the past is part of their daily lives
Lucy Jane Santos
Age: 33
Occupation: Heritage Manager and Historian
“I have been wearing ‘old women’s’ clothes since I was about 15 and gave my mother a heart attack by coming home after raiding a charity shop for a particularly glorious 50s jacket and gloves.
I choose to wear vintage/retro clothes as it reflects my interests, but also because I find the shapes, colours and textures appealing.
I am not interested in going back in time (OK, maybe a little bit) or blocking out the modern world but only in taking the bits that I find compelling and adding them to my everyday life. I also believe that the past should be preserved and honoured.”
